This weekend has been one great celebration after another! On Friday night, we celebrated my dear friend Diana's 28th birthday! About 15 of us gathered at Gatsby's Tavern in Old Town Alexandria for dinner and drinks. Diana's parents came in for the party and he sister, Danielle, ordered 4 different types of (amazingly) delicious cakes! We had carrot, white chocolate, chocolate mousse and dulce de leche. A.Maze.Ing. The food at Gatsby's was fabulous as always. I had filet mignon (shocking, right?) with aspargus and mashed potatoes. YUM! Diana opened her gifts before dinner and was the lucky recipient of many cat related items and cards. Very fitting. After dinner we went to the Lighthouse (Lighthorse? I can't recall) for drinks and dancing. It was about 1,000 degrees in the bar so I chugged away my champagne buzz with glass after glass of ice water. We danced a lot and my friend Jen and I scouted out all the attractive guys over 6' tall. There were surprisingly plenty :) The night was great and I think Diana had a wonderful birthday!
Saturday morning I drove out to Fairfax (Cantina Coyote Grill) for Mary Kate's Bridal Shower! I got there on time (gasp!) and met up with my friend Amy. Eventually all the girls arrived and there was plenty of chatting, story telling and laughs all around. I found a new great friend, Kristin, who seems to be my sister from another mother. We have more in common than not. She's awesome (so by default, so am I). Mary Kate and her groom-to-be, Jeff, arrived and MK looked stunning as always. We had a great lunch with a couple of fun games and great cocktails. Unfortunately I'll be at another friend's wedding so I won't be able to attend MK and Jeff's nuptials in July, but I will be at her Bachelorette brunch so there will be another post for that when the time comes. (It's a drag-show brunch in Adams Morgan... definitely not PG rated!)
I've included a bunch of pics from the events this weekend, so just click on one to expand and scroll through. Despite the heat this weekend, everyone managed to look beautiful!
Great weekend, great friends. Lucky girl right here. xoxo
