After two weeks of nightly trips to Home Depot picking out different color samples and taping them to my walls, I finally decided on Behr’s Bayside (a.k.a. “blue”) and Country Club (a.k.a. “brown”). What started off as “I’ll just paint one wall blue and one wall brown” quickly escalated into 6 walls becoming dazzled with color. I’m not sure what sort of super powers I channeled that weekend, but I was unstoppable. I went all Bob Villa on the place and had the tarps taped down, the plastic sheets over everything, the blue painters tape everywhere (myself included) and just kept painting and painting and painting. Seriously, I’m still not sure how I got so much accomplished. But alas, the colors are up and I love it. No more boring beige everywhere I turn.
I also spent some time on Etsy.com and found this super cool decal clock. It’s basically a bunch of stickers with a functioning clock motor in the middle. Martha Stewart here even managed to paint the motor from black to white so it would match better. For a twenty-something chick, I’m admittedly awesome at home improvement projects. All the credit however goes to my Dad for teaching me everything and always taking the time to answer my questions and explain how things should be done properly. I’ve learned so much from him. (Sidenote: In return for his unending assistance, I no doubt provide him some comic relief with some of the phone calls I’ve put into him. “Hi Dad. I have a little problem. I spilled an entire jar of bubble bath into the back tank of the toilet. Now every time I flush, the toilet overflows with bubbles. Is that bad?” True story.)
Here are some before pics of my humble home. After pics will be posted later this week...
