So I forgot to update about my 2nd date last Tuesday! I forgot, because it never happened. Womp womp. Apparently I have the worst timing in the world. The guy and I went on a date Thursday and he eagerly scheduled a date for us the following Tuesday. Then over that weekend he “reconnected with an old girlfriend and they’re going to give it a shot.” Are you freaking kidding me? The dude has been on dating sites for how long, and I manage to find him two days before he hits it off with his past lady friend?! Worst timing ever. Ah well. He had a weak handshake anyway so I’m not sure it would have worked between us. Next!
And in related news… another story of my worst timing ever. So this weekend, Diana and I went into Old Town Alexandria for some drinks. As we walked through O’Connells Bar, the seas parted and there they were. Like a beautiful oasis in the desert. Handsome soldiers...in their dress blues. Swoon. I quickly hit it off with one of them and we talked for some time. (Let me also add that he’s 6 ft 7 inches tall. L.O.V.E. that. I finally know what it feels like to be a normal sized girl!) Diana and I eventually left the bar to continue on with our evening, but not before my solider and I exchanged numbers. As the night would have it, we wound up back at O’Connells and I saw the solider again. Diana said she “wasn’t feeling well” (riiiight) and she went home. So the solider and I decided to walk down to the docks along the water and talk. And talk we did for a good 2 hours until we finally decided to call it a night. It was very romantic and he was a complete gentleman. And let me tell you, I felt like a million bucks walking through Old Town linked onto the arm of this tall, handsome solider in his dress blues. We’ve been talking on the phone and texting ever since Saturday night and we’re going to get together for dinner tomorrow. But alas, before you get too smitten, remember how this story began… with a note of my impeccably BAD timing. The catch? He’s leaving in a few weeks for a new assignment in Hawaii. Of freaking course. I’ll keep you posted if there are any major developments on this one, but seeing as how our days are already numbered, I doubt there will be much else to report. I’m going to enjoy the time I do have with him and enjoy a good old fashioned fleeting summer romance.
Army "dress blues" for those who don't know... (sorry for the crappy picture, google was not very helpful in this search):
